Application Process

In order to apply for International Business Studies at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University the foreign candidate with a secondary school leaving certificate from the country which has signed the agreement regarding the recognition of certificates with Poland submits the following documents:

FIRST CYCLE STUDIES

  • A complete application form (available upon electronic registration)
  • Secondary School Exam and a certificate issued by The Board of Education that confirms the equality of foreign diploma with Polish ones *,**.
  • Sworn translation of the diploma done by a sworn translator who is included in the sworn translators' list of the Ministry of Justice, or of the Consul of Poland in the country where the diploma was issued.
  • Photocopy of the passport that allows you to cross the border.
  • One colour current photos (size 35×45mm, the whole profile of mace must be shown, without accessories, earrings and headgear, on a bright background)
  • Language diploma or certificate which confirms level of English at required level. In the case of lack of language diploma or certificate, positive result of placement test guarantees the admission
  • Copy of the birth certificate with translation (concerns foreigners)
  • Recruitment fee payment 85 PLN

 * It doesn't apply to the candidate from the country included in international agreements;
** After fulfilling demanded formalities, recognition of the certificate can be done by The Board of Education appropriate for the student's place of residence in Poland, or by the Provincial Department of Education in Krakow (due to the location of Krakow University); IB (International Baccalaureate) and EB (European Baccalaureate) diplomas don't need recognition.

SECOND CYCLE STUDIES

  • A complete application form (available upon electronic registration)
  • The diploma of higher education *, **, ***.
  • Sworn translation of the diploma done by a sworn translator who is included in the sworn translators' list of the Ministry of Justice, or of the Consul of Poland in the country where the diploma was issued
  • Photocopy of the passport that allows you to cross the border
  • One colour current photos (size 35×45mm,the whole profile of mace must be shown, without accessories, earrings and headgear, on a bright background)
  • Language diploma or certificate which confirms level of English at required level. In the case of lack of language diploma or certificate, positive result of placement test guarantees the admission.
  • Copy of the birth certificate with translation (concerns foreigners)
  • Recruitment fee payment 85 PLN;

* a certificate from your home University that confirms your ability to continue studiesin the country where the diploma was issued (unless this information is includes in the diploma's content;
** the opinion or certificate of the Ministry of Higher Education which confirms accreditation of the university, which issued the diploma;
*** the certificates mentioned above don't apply to the candidates from the countries included in international agreements.

Please note!
The candidate with a secondary school leaving certificate from the country which does not have an agreement regarding the recognition of certificates with Poland submits the same above-mentioned documents, but the secondary school leaving certificate in addition has to undegro a recognition process through the ‘nostrification’ procedure. Confirmation of the fact that the certificate is in the process of recognition also has to be submitted, too.
 
‘Nostrification’ of secondary school leaving certificates
According to the Polish regulations, a school certificate obtained abroad in a country that does not have an agreement on recognition of certificates with Poland has to be validated in the country in which it was issued and then presented to the kuratorium oświaty (local educational authority) in Poland, which is responsible for the ‘nostrification’.
 
The English language qualification
The prospective candidate is required to have the ample knowledge of the English language, which will have to be confirmed with one of the following language certificates in order to be enrolled for the studies without the necessity to undergo entrance language examination at the Krakow University:
 
List of diplomas, certificates proving knowledge of foreign language:
 1. International Baccalaureate diploma 
 2. a diploma of completion of
  • a foreign language philology or applied linguistics faculty,
  • a foreign language teacher training college,
  • higher education studies abroad (language of instruction is taken into consideration),
  • National School of Public Administration
3. a certificate of passing of a departmental exam
  • in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • in the Ministry of Economy,
  • in the Ministry of national Defence – starting from STANAG 6001 level 4444
4. a language certificate issued by the National School of Public Administration
5. a language certificate issued between 25 August 1997 and 14 January 1998 by the Departmental Examination Board of Foreign Languages of the Civil Services (Resortowa Komisja Egzaminacyjna Języków Obcych Urzędu Służby Cywilnej),
6. the following certificates or attestations
  • First Certificate in English (FCE), Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), Business English Certificate (BEC) Vantage – at least Pass, Business English Certificate (BEC) Higher, Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT) – certificates issued by University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate and by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations;
  • International English Language Testing System IELTS – over 6 points – certificate issued by University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, the British Council and Education Australia;
  • Certificate in English Language Skills (CELS) – levels “Vantage” (B2) and “Higher” (C1);
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – at least 510 points in Paper- Based Test, at least 180 points in Computer-Based Test and at least 3,5 points from Test of Written English (TWE) – issued by Educational Testing Service, Princeton, USA;
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) – First Class Pass at Intermediate Level, Higher Intermediate Level, Advanced Level – issued by City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications (Pitman Qualifications Institute);
  • International English for Speakers of Other Languages (IESOL) Communicator, Expert and Mastery levels – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications);
  • City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International (reading, writing and listening) Communicator (B2) 500/176 5/2; City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in ESOL international (reading, writing and listening) Expert (C1) 500/176 /4; City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in ESOL International (reading, writing and listening) Mastery (C2) 500/1767 /6 – issued by City & Guilds;
  • Spoken English Test (SET) for Business – Stage B Communicator level, Stage C Expert level, Stage C Mastery level – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications);
  • English for Business Communications (EBC) – Level 2, Level 3 – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications);
  • English for Office Skills (EOS) – Level 2 – issued by City & Guilds (City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications);
  • Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) – at least 700 points – issued by Educational Testing Service, Princeton, USA;
  • London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI): English for Business Level 2, English for Business Level 3, English for Business Level 4 – certificates issued by London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board;
  • London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) – Foundation Certificate for Teachers of Business English (FTBE) – certificate issued by London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board;
  • B2 Certificate in English – advantage, B2 Certificate in English for Business Purposes – advantage, Certificate in English for Technical Purposes (B2) –TELC examinations (The European Language Certificates) administered by WBT Weiterbildungs - Testsysteme GmbH or telc GmbH; telc English B2, telc English B2 Business telc English B2 Technical, telc English C1 – issued by telc GmbH;
  • London Tests of English, Level 3 (Edexcel Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International); London Tests of English, Level 4 (Edexcel Level 2 Certificate in ESOL International); London Tests of English, Level 5 (Edexcel Level 3 Certificate in ESOL International) – issued by Edexcel; administered by Pearson Language Assessments or Pearson Language Tests;
  • Certyfikat Krakowskiego Towarzystwa Edukacyjnego Sp. z o.o. – The Krakow Educational Society Certificate attesting language proficiency at B2 level.

Application deadline for International Business Studies is 25 September 2018. It is advised to start the procedure at least four months before the deadline especially if the candidate requires a student visa since it may take up to three months before it is issued.

The decision concerning admission for the studies upon the analysis of the candidate’s documentation is undertaken by the Faculty Recruitment Commission.
The candidate admitted for studies is required to cover the registration fee - 400 PLN, tuition fee - 2880 PLN and signing the agreement with the AFM Krakow University.
Registration fee and tuition fee are paid to an individual bank account of a candidate (admitted to studies) when upon signing the agreement.
